The Minnesota Black-Owned Business Directory grew out of the drive to strengthen Minnesota’s Black community after the 2020 murder of George Floyd. It was created by Cooper Law, LLC, a Black-owned Minnesota law firm with a mission to elevate the local community and provide resources that are usually out of reach. It is maintained by web developer Sam Glover. Cari O'Brien and Susan Staupe have also provided support.
